A personal trip to Costa Rica to investigate retirement and investment housing in 2006 steered Leah Dobkin into an encore career of freelance writing. She wrote an article for Kiplinger's Retirement Report about the Costa Rica experience, and has not stopped writing since. It has led her to fascinating people in unusual places. She often writes about social enterprises and people who magnify positive community change,with a special emphasis on environmental, aging and consumer issues.

Dobkin is a versatile and creative writer, serving the editorial needs of businesses, nonprofits and individuals. Prior to freelance writing, Ms. Dobkin was in the aging and nonprofit field. She developed and managed innovative programs for older adults and their caregivers for over thirty years. She is a national consultant and public speaker about a variety of topics such as senior housing, corporate elder care, and funding and sustainability for nonprofits.

Leah Dobkin has a master's degree in gerontology and social administration from Columbia University. She lives three blocks from Lake Michigan in Shorewood, Wisconsin. Being a Pisces, she naturally spends a lot of time around water.
